R 18 Heritage Road

Editorial | Motion Design | Music Supervision — A five-part series tracking the heritage of the BMW R 18 in parallel with the Hartford, CT chapter of the Buffalo Soldiers and Troopers Motorcycle Club, who themselves honor the heritage of the Army’s 9th and 10th cavalries – America’s first all-black peacetime regiments.

R 18 Heritage Road Ep. 1 — The Buffalo Soldiers MC

Meet club VP Paul “Beemer” Stringer, a retired high school principal and Purple Heart recipient, and probationary member Rob “S.O.B.” (Son of Beemer – no blood relation to Paul) Griffiths, an aeronautical engineer.

R 18 Heritage Road Ep. 4 — S.O.B.

Meet Rob “S.O.B.” Griffiths, an aeronautical engineer whose journey has led to him becoming a member of the Buffalo Soldiers and Troopers Motorcycle Club.

R 18 Heritage Road Ep. 2 — The Iron Horses

Since the original Buffalo Soldiers taught horsemanship skills to West Point cadets, the motorcycle club does an annual ride from Hartford to honor their heritage. This year, Beemer and S.O.B. will be riding the R 18 First Edition.

R 18 Heritage Road Ep. 5 — The Ride

Beemer and S.O.B. ride to West Point in honor of the 9th and 10th cavalries. For S.O.B. this first ride is a rite of passage.

R 18 Heritage Road Ep. 3 — Beemer

More than 70% of Buffalo Soldiers MC members are veterans. Episode 3 follows the incredible life story of Paul “Beemer” Stringer. From his military service in Vietnam, to his time as a high school teacher and principal, to today.

The series is BMW Motorrad's all time most-viewed social content, and was recently honored by the Ad Club.
